Asia-Pacific Journal of Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy, Rehabilitation and Technology (AP-SMART)

AP-SMART is the official peer-reviewed, open access journal of the Asia-Pacific Knee, Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine Society (APKASS), Japan Sports Orthopaedic Association (JSOA) and the Korean Arthroscopy Society (KAS). It is published quarterly (January, April, July and October), by Elsevier.

Mission

AP-SMART aims to inspire clinicians, practitioners, scientists and engineers to work towards a common goal to improve quality of life in the international community. 


Scope and Focus Areas

The Journal publishes original research, reviews, editorials, perspectives, and letters to the Editor. AP-SMART is dedicated to advancing knowledge and practical applications in the following key areas:


1. Sports Medicine

A multidisciplinary field encompassing sports traumatology, cardiology, endocrinology, emergency medicine, physiology, biochemistry, and biomechanics. Each domain contributes uniquely to the overall care and management of athletes.


2. Arthroscopy

Advances in skills and technology have positioned arthroscopy at the forefront of minimally invasive surgical interventions for sports-related injuries.


3. Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation is an integral component of managing sports trauma. It includes comprehensive treatment programs involving allied health professionals, performance optimization, preventive measures, and outcome evaluations.


4. Sports Technology

A vital area for biomechanical and biological research in arthroplasty and sports medicine. AP-SMART aims to foster collaboration between engineers, scientists, biomechanists, and administrators to develop and apply innovative technologies in sports and sports medicine.


5. Reconstructive Surgery

This area includes osteotomy, total joint replacement, minimally invasive surgery, and computer-assisted surgical procedures for the knee, shoulder, and ankle. The journal also dedicates a section to advancing the science and management of upper limb disorders, particularly those related to sports.
